The Public Health (Wales) Act 2017 (Commencement) Order 2017

The Welsh Ministers in exercise of the powers conferred by section 126(2) and (3) of the Public Health (Wales) Act 2017(1), make the following Order:

Title and interpretation

1.—(1) The title of this Order is the Public Health (Wales) Act 2017 (Commencement) Order 2017.

(2) In this Order, “the Act” (“y Ddeddf”) means the Public Health (Wales) Act 2017.

Provisions coming into force on 4 October 2017

2.  The appointed day for the following provisions of the Act coming in to force is 4 October 2017—

(a)section 2 (national strategy on preventing and reducing obesity: publication and review);

(b)section 3 (implementation of national strategy); and

(c)section 119 (fixed penalty receipts for food hygiene rating offences).

Provisions coming into force on 1 January 2018

3.  The appointed day for the following provisions of the Act coming in to force is 1 January 2018—

(a)Part 5 (intimate piercing); and

(b)section 94 (interpretation) for the purpose of Part 5.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order made by the Welsh Ministers brings into force specified provisions of the Public Health (Wales) Act 2017 (“the Act”).

Article 2 brings certain provisions of the Act relating to the national strategy on preventing obesity and reducing obesity levels in Wales into force on 4 October 2017.

Article 2 also brings certain provisions of the Act relating to fixed penalty receipts for food hygiene rating offences under the Food Hygiene Rating (Wales) Act 2013 into force on 4 October 2017.

Article 3 brings certain provisions of the Act relating to the intimate piercing of children into force on 1 January 2018.
