Request for extension of time in which to provide information or documentation9

A local authority must agree to any reasonable request for an extension of time made in accordance with regulation 8(2)(e).

If D requests an extension of time orally, a local authority may give its response to that request orally, but it must also confirm the response in writing, or in any other format that is appropriate to D’s communication needs.

When responding to a request for an extension of time a local authority must confirm whether or not the request is granted and if granted, must state the period of the extension.

Where a local authority refuses a request for an extension of time, it must give reasons for its refusal of the request.
