Title, commencement, interpretation and application

1.—(1) The title of these Regulations is the National Health Service (Amendments relating to Optical Charges and Payments) (Wales) Regulations 2010 which come into force on 1 April 2010.

(2) These Regulations apply in relation to Wales.

(3) In these Regulations—

Amendment of regulation 1 of the Optical Regulations

2.  In regulation 1(2) of the Optical Regulations (citation, commencement and interpretation), in the definition of “NHS sight test fee”—

(a)for “£55.93” substitute “£57.16”; and

(b)for “£20.26” substitute “£20.70”.

Amendment of regulation 7 of the 2009 Regulations

3.  In the Welsh text of regulation 7 of the 2009 Regulations, after “Yn rheoliad 13(2)(l)(ii)” insert “o Reoliadau 1986”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (Optical Charges and Payments) Regulations 1997 (“the Optical Regulations”) which determine the level of NHS sight test fees. These Regulations also amend the National Health Service (Amendments relating to Optical Charges and Payments) (Wales) Regulations 2009 (“the 2009 Regulations”).

Regulation 2 amends regulation 1 of the Optical Regulations so as make reference to an increase in the NHS sight test fees of 2.2%.

Regulation 3 of these Regulations amends regulation 7 of the 2009 Regulations.
