Children and Adoption Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) (Wales) Order 2007

The National Assembly for Wales, makes the following order in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 17(3) Children and Adoption Act 2006 —

Title, interpretation and application

1.—(1) The title of this order is the Children and Adoption Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) (Wales) Order 2007.

(2) This Order applies in relation to Wales.

Appointed Day

2.  2 April 2007 is the appointed day for the coming into force of section 13 of the Children and Adoption Act 2006 so far as it relates to adoptions and prospective adoptions in respect of which the National Assembly for Wales may charge a fee under section 91A Adoption and Children Act 2002.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 2 April 2007 section 13 of the Children and Adoption Act 2006(2), so far as it relates to adoptions and prospective adoptions in respect of which the National Assembly for Wales (the National Assembly) may charge a fee to adopters and prospective adopters under section 91A Adoption and Children Act 2002(3). These are adoptions and prospective adoptions for which the National Assembly discharges functions as a Central Authority under the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Cooperation in respect of Intercountry Adoption 1993.
