12.—(1) Fresh meat and meat products referred to in article 11(2)(d) must be marked—
(a)with the mark set out in the Schedule; or
(b)with the national mark described in paragraph (2) if the meat or product was produced in premises in accordance with Article 4 of Regulation (EC) No 2076/2005.
(2) The national mark referred to in paragraph (1)(b) must—
(a)be square;
(b)be clear and visible; and
(c)contain, in legible form, the following—
(i)on the upper part, the letters “UK”;
(ii)in the centre, the approval number of the premises where the meat or product was produced;
(iii)on the lower part, the letter “N”.
(3) No person other than the final consumer of meat or of a meat product, marked in accordance with this article, is to deface, obliterate or remove that mark, unless authorised by the National Assembly.
