The National Assembly for Wales and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 1, 7(1)(a), (b), (c) and (d), 7(2) and 23(f) and (g) of the Animal Health Act 1981F1, and now vested in themF2, make the following Order—

Amendments (Textual)

Functions of “the Ministers”, so far as exercisable by the Secretary of State for Scotland in relation to Wales, were transferred to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food by the Transfer of Functions (Agriculture and Food) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/3141). Functions of “the Ministers”, so far as exercisable by the Secretary of State for Wales in relation to Wales, were transferred to the National Assembly for Wales by the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/672).

Title, commencement and application

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) (Amendment) (Wales) Order 2001 and shall come into force at 5.00 p.m. on 1st March 2001.

(2) This Order shall apply to Wales only.

Amendments to the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 1978

2.  The Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 1978 F3 (“the 1978 Order”) shall be amended by adding the entries listed in the Schedule to this Order to Schedule 1 to the 1978 Order.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order, which applies in Wales only (article 1(2)), amends the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 1978 (S.I. 1978/32), referred to in this Order as “the 1978 Order”.

This Order (article 2 and the Schedule) amends Schedule 1 to the 1978 Order by adding to that schedule several entries for other approved disinfectants.

This Order has been notified under the urgent reasons provisions of Article 9C(7) of Directive 98/34/EC of the European Parliment and Council of 22 June 1998 laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical standards and regulations (OJ No. L204, 21.7.98, p.37).

A Regulatory Appraisal (made under section 65(1) of the Government of Wales Act 1998 and the Standing Orders of the National Assembly for Wales) has not been prepared in respect of this Order.
