2. The following provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 shall come into force on 9th April 2001—
section 1 (meaning of “local authority” in Part I)
section 2 (promotion of well-being)
section 3(1), (2) and (8) (limits on power to promote well-being)
section 4(1), (2) and (3)(a) (strategies for promoting well-being)
section 5(1), (2), (3), (4) and (6) (power to amend or repeal enactments)
section 6(1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (7) and (8) (power to modify enactments concerning plans etc.)
section 8 (modification of section 137 of the 1972 Act)
section 9 (procedure for orders under section 5 or 6)
section 107(2) (minor and consequential amendments and repeals) to the extent that it relates to the repeals set out in Schedule 6 of—
in section 25(8) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, the words from “Without prejudice” to “inhabitants of its area”;
in section 13 of the Inner Urban Areas Act 1978, the words “section 137(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 or”;
section 11A(4) of the Housing Act 1985;
and sections 34 and 35 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
