Explanatory Note
(This note does not form part of the Regulations)
The Housing Renewal Grants Regulations1996 (“the principal Regulations”) set out the means test for determining the amount of renovation grant and disabled facilities grant which may be paid by local housing authorities to owner-occupier and tenant applicants under Chapter I of Part I of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.
These Regulations make applicable to Wales the provisions of the Housing Renewal Grants (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2000 and the Housing Renewal Grants (Amendment No. 2) (England) Regulations 2000. Those Regulations make amendments to the principal Regulations which are consequential upon changes to the Housing Benefit (General) Regulations 1987 upon which the means test is based.
The Housing Renewal Grants (Amendment No 2) (England) Regulations 2000 also revoke certain provisions of the Housing Renewal Grants (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2000.
