Amendment of the Weights and Measures (Intoxicating Liquor) Order 1988 E+W+S

8.—(1) The Weights and Measures (Intoxicating Liquor) Order 1988(1) is amended as follows.

(2) In article 1(2), after the definition of “made wine” but before the “and” insert—

““single distilled shochu” means the spirit drink known as single distilled shochu which is single distilled, produced by pot still and bottled in Japan;”.

(3) In the table in Schedule A1, in the row relating to “Spirit drinks”, in the fourth column, at the end, insert “, or single distilled shochu in containers of a capacity of 720 ml, 900 ml or 1800 ml”.

Amendment of Regulation (EC) No 110/2008 E+W+S

9.  In Regulation (EC) No 110/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 January 2008 on the definition, description, presentation, labelling and the protection of geographical indications of spirit drinks and repealing Council Regulation (EEC) No 1576/89(2), omit Article 24a.
