The National Health Service (Dental Charges) (Amendment) Regulations 2019

Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 176(1) and (2)(c) and 272(7) of the National Health Service Act 20061.

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (Dental Charges) (Amendment) Regulations 2019 and come into force on 1st April 2019.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (Dental Charges) Regulations 2005 (“the 2005 Regulations”).

The 2005 Regulations include the charges that are levied for NHS dental and orthodontic treatment in England. Regulation 2 amends regulation 4 of the 2005 Regulations to increase the charges for Band 1 courses of treatment from £21.60 to £22.70, Band 2 courses of treatment from £59.10 to £62.10 and Band 3 courses of treatment from £256.50 to £269.30. Regulation 2 also amends regulation 12A of the 2005 Regulations to increase the charge for a Band 1A interim care course of treatment provided by contractors participating in the Prototype Agreement Scheme, scheduled to run from 1st November 2015 to 31st March 2020, from £21.60 to £22.70, in line with the Band 1 charge.
