Coming into force

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19721.

The Secretary of State has been designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in relation to maritime transport, in relation to measures relating to the information and consultation of employees, in relation to measures relating to dismissals where such dismissals or terminations are effected by an employer for one or more reasons not related to the individual workers concerned and in relation to insolvency2.
