Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Higher Education and Research Act 2017 (Consequential, Transitional, Transitory and Saving Provisions) Regulations 2018 and come into force on 1st April 2018.

(2) In these Regulations—

“the 1992 Act” means the Further and Higher Education Act 1992(1);

“the 2004 Act” means the Higher Education Act 2004(2);

“the 2005 Act” means the Education Act 2005(3);

“the 2011 Act” means the Education Act 2011(4);

“the 2017 Act” means the Higher Education and Research Act 2017;

“the Director” means the Director of Fair Access to Higher Education(5);

“HEFCE” means the Higher Education Funding Council for England(6);

“NERC” means the Natural Environment Research Council(7);

The office of Director was established under section 31 of the Higher Education Act 2004.

HEFCE was established under Part 2 of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992.

NERC was established as a research council under section 1(3) of the Science and Technology Act 1965 (c. 4).
