The Antarctic (Guernsey) (Amendment) Regulations 2018

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 9(1), 10(1), 11(1), 14(1), 25(1) and (3) and 32 of the Antarctic Act 19941, as extended to the Bailiwick of Guernsey by the Antarctic Act 1994 (Guernsey) Order 19952.

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Antarctic (Guernsey) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 and come into force on the day after the day on which they are registered by the Royal Court of Guernsey.

Amendment of the Antarctic (Guernsey) Regulations 19972

The Antarctic (Guernsey) Regulations 19973 are amended as follows.

In regulation 2, after “the Antarctic Regulations 1995” insert “, as amended by the Antarctic (Amendment) Regulations 20084 and the Antarctic (Amendment) Regulations 20175,”.

In regulation 4(2) (applications for permits under sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Act) and regulation 6(5) (comprehensive environmental evaluation) after “on the internet website of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office”6 insert “and in La Gazette Officielle or on the internet website of the States of Guernsey,”

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Antarctic (Guernsey) Regulations 1997 (S.I. 1997/2966), which extended the Antarctic Regulations 1995 (S.I. 1995/490) to the Bailiwick of Guernsey with certain modifications, to extend to the Bailiwick of Guernsey the amendments made to those Regulations by the Antarctic (Amendment) Regulations 2008 (S.I. 2008/3066) and the Antarctic (Amendment) Regulations 2017 (S.I. 2017/706).

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen.
