The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 95(12), 166(3) and 167(1) of, and paragraphs 1 and 3(a) of Schedule 8 to, the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Asylum Support (Amendment No.2) Regulations 2015 and come into force on 6th April 2015.
2. The Asylum Support (Amendment) Regulations 2015(2) are revoked.
3.—(1) Regulation 10 of the Asylum Support Regulations 2000(3) (kind and levels of support for essential living needs) is amended as follows.
(2) For the table at paragraph (2) substitute—
Qualifying couple | £72.52 |
Lone parent aged 18 or over | £43.94 |
Single person aged 25 or over (where the decision to grant support was made prior to 5th October 2009 and the person reached age 25 prior to that date) | £42.62 |
Any other single person aged 18 or over | £36.95 |
Person aged at least 16 but under 18 (except a member of a qualifying couple) | £39.80 |
Person aged under 16 | £52.96”. |
4. The Asylum Support (Amendment) Regulations 2011(4) are revoked.

Regulation 2 revokes the Asylum Support (Amendment) Regulations 2015 (S.I. 2015/645), which were due to come into force on 6th April 2015.
Regulation 3 amends regulation 10(2) of the Asylum Support Regulations 2000 (S.I. 2000/704) by increasing the cash amounts payable, as a general rule, in respect of a person’s essential living needs, where that person is a single person aged 18 or over but is not aged 25 or over where the decision to grant support was made prior to 5th October 2009 and the person reached age 25 prior to that date.
These Regulations take effect from 6th April 2015. On that date, the Asylum Support (Amendment) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 2011/907), which set out the previous cash amounts payable, are revoked.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private and voluntary sector is foreseen.
