The Electronic Commerce Directive (Financial Services and Markets) (Amendment) Order 2015

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2)

The Treasury are designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to information society services.

In the opinion of the Treasury, one of the effects of the following Order is that an activity which is not a regulated activity (within the meaning of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000) will become a regulated activity.

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 and section 22(1) and (5) of, and paragraph 25(1)(b) of Schedule 2 to, the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000(3), make the following Order.

In accordance with paragraph 2(2) of Schedule 2 to the European Communities Act 1972 and paragraph 26 of Schedule 2(4) to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
