Prohibition on proceeding on a voyage or excursion without the appropriate certificate24

A passenger ship of Class II(A), III, IV, V, VI, VI(A), A, B, C or D shall not proceed on a voyage or excursion unless it has been surveyed and there is in force—

a

a Passenger Certificate appropriate to the ship's Class and applicable to that voyage or excursion; or

b

in the case of a ship of Class A, B, C or D, a certificate issued by another Member State or EEA State pursuant to article 11 of the Directive.

Where a certificate is issued subject to conditions, the ship shall not proceed on a voyage or excursion unless all the conditions are complied with.
