The Secretary of State is a Minister designated1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19722 (“the 1972 Act”) in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Union3.
The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of, as read with paragraph 1A of Schedule 24 to, the 1972 Act.
The Regulations make provision for a purpose mentioned in section 2(2) of the 1972 Act, and it appears to the Secretary of State that it is expedient for the references to the following Regulations to be construed as references to those Regulations as amended from time to time—

Regulation (EU) No.508/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15th May 2014 on the European Maritime Fisheries Fund5;
- b
Regulation (EU) No.1303/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17th December 2013, laying down common provisions on the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund, the Cohesion Fund, the European Agricultural Fund for Regional Development and the European Maritime Fisheries Fund and laying down general provisions on the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund, the Cohesion Fund and the European Maritime Fisheries Fund6.
