The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 45(1), 57(1) and (7) and 58(1) of the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995(1).

Representative organisations have been consulted in accordance with section 57(12) of that Act.

In determining the amount of the fees specified in these Regulations, the Secretary of State has taken into account the cost of the functions listed in paragraphs 44 to 46 of Schedule 1 to the Department for Transport (Fees) Order 2009(2) and has taken into account the matters listed in Schedule 2 to that Order in determining the costs of those functions.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2014 and come into force on 1st October 2014.

Amendment of Regulations

2.—(1) The Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) (Fees) Regulations 1995(3) are amended as follows.

(2) In column 3 of the Schedule —

(a)in relation to fee number (i), for “£254” substitute “£257”;

(b)in relation to fee numbers (ii) and (iii), for “£397” substitute “£401”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the fees payable under the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) (Fees) Regulations 1995 in relation to goods vehicle operator licences granted under the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995.

Fee changes, together with the percentage increase, are shown in the table below. The fees were last increased on 1st April 2012.

The fee for the issue of an interim licence remains the same.

DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) was formed on 1st April 2014 following the merger of VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) with the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) to form a single entity.
