PART 1General

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Local Authorities (Committee System) (England) Regulations 2012 and come into force on 4th May 2012.

Interpretation

2.—(1) In these Regulations—

“the 1972 Act” means the Local Government Act 1972(1);

“the 1989 Act” means the Local Government and Housing Act 1989(2);

“the 2000 Act” means the Local Government Act 2000;

“the 2006 Act” means the Police and Justice Act 2006(3);

“the 2007 Act” means the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007(4);

“local authority” means a committee system local authority;

“non-unitary district council committee” has the same meaning as in section 9FF of the 2000 Act(5); and

“relevant partner authority” has the same meaning as in section 9FF of the 2000 Act.
