Despite the amendments made by paragraphs 1 to 24 of Schedule 2 to the 2010 Act, the provisions of the Coast Protection Act 19496 as in force immediately before 1st October 2011 in relation to Wales continue to apply to any coast protection work started in relation to Wales before that date.

Despite the amendment made by paragraph 30 of Schedule 2 to the 2010 Act, section 17 of the Land Drainage Act 19917 continues to apply to a local authority for an area in Wales unless the lead local flood authority for that area has published a summary of its local flood risk management strategy under section 10(7) of the 2010 Act.

In this article—

  • “coast protection work” has the meaning given in section 49(1) of the Coast Protection Act 1949 as in force immediately before 1st October 2011 in relation to Wales; and

  • “local authority” has the meaning given in section 72(1) of the Land Drainage Act 1991.
