Coming into force

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19721.

The Secretary of State has been designated for the purposes of that section in relation to measures relating to food (including drink) including the primary production of food and measures relating to feed produced for or fed to food-producing animals2.

Title and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Rice Products from the United States of America (Restriction on First Placing on the Market) (England) (Revocation) Regulations 2010 and come into force on 16th June 2010.

Revocation2

The Rice Products from the United States of America (Restriction on First Placing on the Market) (England) Regulations 20083 are revoked.

These Regulations revoke the Rice Products from the United States of America (Restriction on First Placing on the Market) (England) Regulations 2008 (S.I. 2008/622).

Those Regulations implemented in relation to England Commission Decision 2006/601/EC on emergency measures regarding the non-authorised genetically modified organism ‘LL RICE 601’ in rice products (OJNo. L244, 7.9.2006, p.27) as last amended by Commission Decision 2008/162/EC amending Decision 2006/601/EC on emergency measures regarding the non-authorised genetically modified organism ‘LL RICE 601’ in rice products (OJNo. L52, 27.2.2008, p.25). Commission Decision 2006/601/EC has been repealed by Commission Decision 2010/315/EU repealing Decision 2006/601/EC on emergency measures regarding the non-authorised genetically modified organism ‘LL RICE 601’ in rice products, and providing for random testing for the absence of that organism in rice products (OJNo. L141, 9.6.2010, p.10).
