The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 4(j) of Schedule A1 to the Prison Act 1952(1):
1. This Order may be cited as Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons (Specified Public Authority) Order 2009 and shall come into force on 1st April 2009.
2. The Care Quality Commission is a specified public authority for the purposes of paragraph 4(j) of Schedule A1 (further provision about Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons) to the Prison Act 1952.

This Order specifies the Care Quality Commission as a public authority for the purposes of paragraph 4(j) of Schedule A1 to the Prison Act 1952; the effect is that the Chief Inspector is required to co-operate with the Care Quality Commission where it is appropriate to do so for the efficient and effective discharge of the Chief Inspector’s functions.
1952 c.52. Schedule A1 was inserted by section 28 of the Police and Justice Act 2006 (c.48).
