This Order brings into force section 48 of the Welfare Reform Act 2007 (“the Act”) which makes amendments to sections 122C (supply of information to authorities administering benefit), 122D (supply of information by authorities administering benefit), 122E (supply of information between authorities administering benefit) and 126A (power to require information from landlords and agents) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992. These amendments are consequential upon sections 46 and 47 of the Act which confer powers on local authorities to investigate and prosecute offences relating to benefits administered by the Secretary of State.
