The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(1) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975(1). In accordance with section 18(4) of that Act he has consulted with such persons as appear to him to be requisite.

Citation and Commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) (No.3) Order 2009 and shall come into force on 10th July 2009.

Designation

2.  The sports ground specified in the Schedule to this Order (being a sports ground at which association football matches are played, which is occupied by a club which is a member of the Football League Limited and which in the opinion of the Secretary of State has accommodation for more than 5,000 spectators) is designated as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates the Pirelli Stadium, occupied by the Albion Football Club (Burton-on-Trent) Limited, as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument.

1975 c.52; section 1 was amended by section 20 of, and Schedule 2 to, the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987 (c.27) and the Safety of Sports Grounds (Accommodation of Spectators) Order 1996 (S.I. 1996/499) which substitutes the number 5,000 as the specified number of spectators for those sports grounds at which association football matches are played and which are occupied by a club which is a member of either the Football League Limited or the Football Association Premier League Limited.
