The Social Security (Lone Parents and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2008

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1
The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by—
sections 2A, 2B, 189(1), (4) to (6) and (7A) and 191 of the Social Security Administration Act 19921,
sections 123(1)(a), 124(1)(e), 137(1), and 175(1) to (4) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 19922,
sections 6(2) and (4), 7(4), 8(2)(d)(ii), 19(8)(a), 35(1) and 36(2) and (4) of, and paragraphs 8 and 10(1)(a) and (2)(a) of Schedule 1 to, the Jobseekers Act 19953,
sections 2(4)(a), 4(6)(a) and 24(1) of the Welfare Reform Act 20074.
The Secretary of State referred the proposals for these Regulations to the Social Security Advisory Committee5.
A draft of these Regulations was laid before Parliament in accordance with section 37(2) of the Jobseekers Act 19956 and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
