1. This Order may be cited as the M1 Motorway (Junction 13 and Connecting Roads) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 31st July 2008.
2. In this Order:
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway:
(i)(2) (i) “the connecting roads” mean the special roads (slip roads) along a route described in Schedule 1 to this Order; and
(ii)“the plan” means the plan numbered HA 18/MP/010, marked “The M1 Motorway (Junction 13 and Connecting Roads) Order 2008”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at DCLG Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
3. The Secretary of State is authorised to provide the connecting roads for the exclusive use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980.
4. The centre line of each of the connecting roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the plan.
5. Each of the connecting roads shall become a trunk road on the date when this Order comes into force.

The routes of the new slip roads are as follows:
Junction with M1 Junction 13 and A421 Trunk Road at Husborne Crawley in the County of Bedfordshire
Four routes to connect the motorway with a roundabout which the Secretary of State proposes to construct at Husborne Crawley (the special roads along these routes being respectively given the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 on plan 1.

This Order would establish the line of four new slip roads to be constructed at M1 Junction 13 on a different alignment to the existing slip roads, which will connect the motorway to a new roundabout on the A421 Trunk Road. The four existing slip roads will be stopped up.
