The Uttlesford (Electoral Changes) Order 2008

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2) and 1(3)
Uttlesford District Council, under section 9(1) of the Local Government and Rating Act 1997(2) (“the 1997 Act”), have made to the Electoral Commission(3) proposals dated December 2007 for electoral changes to six wards of the district of Uttlesford and two electoral divisions of the county of Essex:
The Electoral Commission have decided to give effect to those proposals and, in relation to the changes made on 1st April 2004 affecting the parishes of Birchanger, Great Hallingbury, Hatfield Broad Oak, Little Chesterford, Saffron Walden, Stansted Mountfitchet and Takeley(4), to make related alterations of the boundaries of Birchanger, Broad Oak and the Hallingburys, Saffron Walden Castle, Stansted South, Takeley and the Canfields, and The Chesterfords wards of the district of Uttlesford, and Dunmow and Stansted electoral divisions of the county of Essex:

The Electoral Commission was established by the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (c.41). The functions of the Secretary of State, under sections 13, 14 and 17(4) of the 1997 Act (c.29), to the extent that they relate to electoral arrangements within the meaning of that Act, were transferred with modifications to the Electoral Commission on 1st April 2002 (S.I. 2001/3962).

The areas of the parishes of Birchanger, Great Hallingbury, Hatfield Broad Oak, Little Chesterford, Saffron Walden, Stansted Mountfitchet and Takeley were altered by the Uttlesford (Parishes) Order 2003 (S.I. 2003/2407).
