This Order is made in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 8(1) of Schedule 8 and paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 10 to the Traffic Management Act 2004(1).

Rutland District Council(2) has applied to the Secretary of State for an order to be made under these powers with respect to part of its area.

The Secretary of State has consulted the chief officer of the Leicestershire Constabulary in accordance with the requirements of paragraphs 8(3) of Schedule 8 and 3(4) of Schedule 10.

Accordingly, the Secretary of State for Transport(3) makes this Order:

The functions of Leicestershire County Council in relation to the non-metropolitan district of Rutland were transferred to the council of that district and the area of that district was renamed the county of Rutland by article 8(3) of the Leicestershire (City of Leicester and District of Rutland) (Structural Change) Order 1996 (S.I. 1996/507).

The Secretary of State, under section 92 of the Traffic Management Act 2004, is the “appropriate national authority” for England for the purposes of Part 6 of that Act.
