The ballot papers17

The ballot of every person entitled to a mayoral vote at the election must consist of a ballot paper which must be in the appropriate form.

Each person remaining validly nominated at the election, after any withdrawals, and no other, is entitled to have their name inserted in the ballot paper at that election.

Every ballot paper—

a

must be printed in accordance with the directions set out in the Forms Schedule,

b

must contain the names and other particulars of the candidates as shown in the statement of persons nominated,

c

must have a number and other unique identifying mark printed on the back, and

d

may, in the case of ballot papers for use at polling stations, be marked with the words “do not fold”.

If a candidate who is the subject of a party’s authorisation under rule 6(5) so requests, the ballot paper must contain, against the candidate’s particulars, the party’s registered emblem (or, as the case may be, one of the party’s registered emblems).

The candidate’s request under paragraph (4) must—

a

be made in writing to the GLRO, and

b

be received by him during the period for delivery of nomination papers set out in the timetable in rule 3.

The names of the candidates must be arranged alphabetically in order of their surnames and, if there are two or more of them with the same surname, of their other names.

The GLRO must supply the ballot papers for use at the election to the CRO by such date as may be agreed between them.

The ballot papers supplied under paragraph (7) must be of a different colour from those used at any other Authority election with which the election is taken.
