The A34 Trunk Road (Chieveley Interchange)(40 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2007

1.  This Order may be cited as the A34 Trunk Road (Chieveley Interchange) (40 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 200 and shall come into force on 12th February 2007.

2.  In this Order:

“the A34” means the A34 Trunk Road near Chieveley in the District of West Berkshire;

“the M4” means the M4 Motorway near Chieveley in the District of West Berkshire;

“Junction 13” means the junction of the M4 with the A34;

“carriageway” means any way (other than a cycle track) comprised in the trunk road over which the public have a right of way for the passage of vehicles and which has a surface suitable for the exercise of that right;

“on-slip” means any road leading to the A34; and

“off-slip” means any road leading from the A34.

3.  No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to be driven at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the lengths of the A34 specified in Schedule 1 to this Order.

SCHEDULE 1LENGTHS OF THE TRUNK ROAD SUBJECT TO A SPEED LIMIT OF 40 MILES PER HOUR

The following lengths of the A34 in the District of West Berkshire:

(a)the Junction 13 Roundabout, point to point, a total distance of 554 metres from the eastern point where the centre of the M4 crosses the centreline of the Junction 13 Roundabout;

(b)the A34 northbound off-slip to Junction 13 from a point 370 metres southwest of the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Junction 13 Roundabout to a point at its junction with the external perimeter of Junction 13 Roundabout, a total distance of 370 metres;

(c)the A34 southbound on-slip from Junction 13 from a point at the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Junction 13 Roundabout to a point 419 metres southwest from the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Junction 13 Roundabout, a total distance of 419 metres;

(d)the southbound link between the Chalky Lane Roundabout and the A34 southbound on-slip from Junction 13 from a point 10 metres southwest from the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Chalky Lane Roundabout to a point 60 metres southwest from the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Chalky Lane Roundabout, a total distance of 50 metres;

(e)the westbound link between the A34 northbound off-slip to Junction 13 and Oxford Road Roundabout from a point at its commencement from its diverge taper from the southbound off-slip to the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Oxford Road Roundabout, a total distance of 155 metres;

(f)the eastbound link between Oxford Road roundabout and the A34 northbound off-slip to Junction 13 from the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Oxford Road Roundabout to a point at the termination of the merging taper with the A34 northbound off-slip, a total distance of 140 metres;

(g)the A34 northbound on-slip from a point at the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Junction 13 Roundabout to a point 134 metres north of the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Junction 13 Roundabout, a total distance of 134 metres;

(h)the A34 southbound off-slip from a point 129 metres north of the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Junction 13 Roundabout to a point at the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Junction 13 Roundabout, a total distance of 129 metres; and

(i)the southbound link road between the A34 southbound on-slip from Junction 13 of the M4 and the Chieveley Services Roundabout, from a point 33 metres north of the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Chieveley Service Roundabout to a point at the centreline of its junction with the external perimeter of Chieveley Services Roundabout, a total distance of 33 metres.
