The Secretary of State has been designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to measures relating to persistent organic pollutants, dangerous substances, preparations and chemicals. The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations under the powers conferred by that section:

1972 c. 68. The power of the Minister to make regulations in relation to matters in or as regards Scotland is preserved by section 57(1) of the Scotland Act 1998 (c.46). The power of the Minister to make regulations in relation to matters in or as regards Wales is preserved by paragraph 5 of Schedule 3 to the Government of Wales Act 2006 (c.32).
