The Secretary of State is designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(1) in relation to rights in respect of State pensions and benefits of members of the pension scheme provided for officials and servants of Community institutions and bodies(2).
Accordingly, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the power conferred by section 2(2) of that Act, makes the following Regulations:
Explanatory Memorandum sets out a brief statement of the purpose of a Statutory Instrument and provides information about its policy objective and policy implications. They aim to make the Statutory Instrument accessible to readers who are not legally qualified accompany any Statutory Instrument or Draft Statutory Instrument laid before Parliament from June 2004 onwards.
