The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council
This Order in Council is made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(2) of the Medical Act 1983(1).
It appears to the Education Committee of the General Medical Council that the standard of proficiency required from candidates at examinations held or to be held for the purpose of granting one or more primary United Kingdom qualifications by the following universities and combinations of universities does or will conform to the prescribed standard of proficiency(2): the University of Warwick; Cardiff University; the University of East Anglia; and a combination of the University of Exeter and the University of Plymouth.
In accordance with section 8(1) of that Act, the Education Committee has represented to the Privy Council that those examinations should become qualifying examinations for the purposes of Part 2 of that Act.
Accordingly, and giving effect to those representations, Her Majesty is pleased to make the following Order in Council by and with the advice of Her Privy Council.
See section 5(4) of the Medical Act 1983, which contains the relevant definition of “prescribed standard of proficiency”.
