The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 349(6) of the Gambling Act 2005(1):

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Gambling Act 2005 (Licensing Authority Policy Statement) (First Appointed Day) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 31st March 2006.

(2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Gambling Act 2005.

First appointed day

2.  For the purposes of section 349 of the Act (requirement on licensing authorities to publish a policy statement every three years), the first appointed day shall be 31st January 2007.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order prescribes the first appointed day for the purposes of section 349 (three-year licensing policy) of the Gambling Act 2005 (“the Act”).

Section 349 of the Act requires licensing authorities to prepare and publish a licensing policy statement every three years describing the principles they intend to apply in exercising their various functions under the Act.

This Order appoints 31st January 2007 as the first day of the initial three year period.
