The Child Abduction and Custody Act 1985 gives effect in the United Kingdom to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (1980, Cm 33) and the European Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions concerning Custody of Children (1980, Cm 191).
This Order provides that references in the 1985 Act to orders made, proceedings brought and other things done in relation to the Conventions in the United Kingdom shall have effect as if they included a reference to orders made, proceedings brought and other things done in Jersey.
Jersey has passed its own legislation, the Child Abduction and Custody (Jersey) Law 2005, giving effect to the Conventions.
