2.—(1) The Borough of Stockton-on-Tees (Electoral Changes) Order 2003(1) shall be amended as follows:
(2) In article 1(3)(a), “15th October 2006” shall be substituted for “15th October 2007”.
(3) After article 3 shall be inserted—
3A.—(1) Elections of all councillors for all wards of the borough shall be held simultaneously on the ordinary day of election of councillors in 2005(2).
(2) The councillors holding office for any ward of the borough immediately before 9th May 2005 shall retire on that date and the newly elected councillors shall come into office on that date.
(3) The term of office of every councillor elected on the ordinary day of election of councillors in 2005 shall be two years; and each such councillor shall, unless he resigns his office or it otherwise becomes vacant, continue to hold office until the fourth day after the ordinary day of election of councillors in 2007.”.
