The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by section 60(2) of the Human Tissue Act 2004(1), hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Human Tissue Act 2004 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2005.

Appointed day

2.  Section 47 of the Human Tissue Act 2004 shall come into force on 3rd October 2005.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the coming into force of section 47 of the Human Tissue Act 2004 (c. 30) on 3 October 2005. Section 47 gives power to nine museums to transfer from their collections human remains which they reasonably believe to be remains of a person who died less than one thousand years before the day on which section 47 comes into force.
