Under the provisions of the Extradition Act 2003, a Part 1 warrant received from a category 1 territory must be certified by the designated authority before it can be executed in the United Kingdom. This Order designates both the National Criminal Intelligence Service and the Crown Agent of the Crown Office in Scotland as designated authorities, which allows both those bodies to certify Part 1 warrants in the United Kingdom.
