Whereas the Secretary of State for Education and Skills has received a proposal from the Learning and Skills Council for England, made in accordance with section 51 of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992(1) (“the Act”), for the dissolution under section 27 of the Act of the further education corporation known as Reading College and School of Arts and Design(2) (“the corporation”);
Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 27 of the Act, the Secretary of State, after consulting the corporation and with the consent of Thames Valley University(3), hereby makes the following Order:
Established on 6th January 1997 by the merger of Reading College of Technology and Berkshire College of Art and Design, Maidenhead, which were both established by S.I. 1992/2097.
Thames Valley University was formerly known as the Polytechnic of West London which was formed in 1991 from the mergers of Ealing College of Higher Education, Thames Valley College, Queen Charlotte’s College of Health Care Studies and London College of Music.
