Education (Revocation of Spent Provisions) (England) Regulations 2003

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by sections 29(5) and 408 of the Education Act 1996(1), section 144 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998(2) and section 214 of the Education Act 2002(3), the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Revocation of Spent Provisions) (England) Regulations 2003.

(2) These Regulations come into force on 30th November 2003.

Revocations

2.—(1) The Regulations listed in Part 1 of the Schedule (which have effect only in relation to England) are hereby revoked to the extent specified here.

(2) The Regulations listed in Part 2 of the Schedule are hereby revoked in relation to England to the extent specified here.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke—

(a)a number of transitional Regulations that were made under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 in preparation for the implementation of that Act, and which are now spent; and

(b)the Education (School Curriculum and Related Information) Regulations 1989 except for regulation 4 regarding information to be published with the governing body’s annual report to parents.

1996 c. 56; by virtue of the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/672) the powers conferred by these provisions are exercisable by the Secretary of State only in relation to England.

1998 c. 31; by virtue of the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 2000 (S.I. 2000/253) the powers conferred by this provision are exercisable by the Secretary of State only in relation to England.

2002 c. 32; by virtue of the definition of “regulations” in section 212(1), these Regulations made by the Secretary of State under section 214(2) apply only in relation to England.
