Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order is the thirteenth Commencement Order made under the Health and Social Care Act 2001 (“the Act”) relating to England. It applies to England only.
Article 2 brings into force on 1st September 2003 section 12 of the Act (which relates to the duty of the Secretary of State to provide independent advocacy services), and paragraph 6 of Schedule 5 to the Act (which makes consequential amendments to the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983 dealing with correspondence with patients).
