The Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (City of Peterborough) Order 2003

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (City of Peterborough) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 22nd September 2003.

Interpretation

2.  In this Order—

“the 1984 Act” means the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1);

“the 1991 Act” means the Road Traffic Act 1991; and

“the parking area” means the area designated as a permitted parking area and as a special parking area by article 4 of this Order.

Application

3.  This Order applies to the whole of the city of Peterborough except—

(a) the entire length of the A1(M), and its on and off slip roads, within the city;

(b) the entire length of the A1, and its on and off slip roads, within the city;

(c) the entire length of the A1260, and its on and off slip roads, within the city;

(d) the entire length of the A1139, and its on and off slip roads, within the city;

(e) the A1179 and its on and off slip roads from its junction with the A1260 at roundabout 33, and including roundabout 33, to its junction at roundabout 34 with Thorpe Road and Thorpe Meadows and including roundabout 34;

(f) the A47 and its on and off slip roads—

(i) from the western boundary of the city to its junction with Orchard Court, Thorney; and

(ii) from its junction with Park Crescent, Thorney to the eastern boundary of the city; and

(g) the A15 and its on and off slip roads—

(i) from the southern boundary of the city to the point where the A1139 crosses over the A15 by way of a flyover;

(ii) from its junction with Westfield Road and Taverners Road at roundabout 41 to its junction with the A47 at roundabout 18;

(iii) from its junction with Lincoln Road and Werrington Parkway at roundabout 45 to its junction with the eastern branch of the A15 and the B1443 Lincoln Road; and

(iv) from its junction with the A1139 at roundabout 8, and including roundabout 8, to the northern boundary of the city.

Designation of permitted parking area and special parking area

4.  The Secretary of State hereby designates the area to which this Order applies as—

(a) a permitted parking area; and

(b) a special parking area.

Modification and application of Part II of the 1991 Act

5.  Sections 66, 69 to 74, 78, 79 and 82 of, and Schedule 6 to, the 1991 Act shall apply in relation to the parking area and as so applied shall have effect subject to the modifications specified in Schedule 1 to this Order.

Modification of other provisions

6.  The 1984 Act shall be modified in relation to the parking area as specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.
