2. In section 134 of the Mental Health Act 1983 (correspondence of patients), for the purposes of subsection (3)(ea)(1), “patient advocacy and liaison service” means a service affording assistance in the form of advice and liaison for patients, their families and carers provided by—
(a)an NHS trust(2); or
(b)a Primary Care Trust(3).
Section 134(3)(ea) was inserted by paragraph 6 of Schedule 5, Part 1 to the 2001 Act.
