2. In these Regulations:
“application” means an application for—
leave to remain in the United Kingdom,
the variation of leave to enter, or remain in, the United Kingdom, or
an indefinite leave stamp to be fixed on the applicant’s passport (or travel document) as the result of the renewal or replacement of his previous passport (or travel document);
“dependant”, of a person, means—
the spouse or unmarried partner, or
a child under the age of eighteen,
of that person;
“immigration employment document” has the same meaning as in section 122 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002(1);
“immigration rules” has the same meaning as in section 33(1) of the Immigration Act 1971(2); and
“the 1999 Act” means the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
