Explanatory Note

This Order amends the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 1978 (“the 1978 Order”), S.I. 1978/32 (amended by S.I. 1978/934, S.I. 1999/919, S.I. 2000/3195 and S.I. 2001/608). It substitutes for Schedules 1 and 2 to the 1978 Order the Schedules 1 and 2 set out in this Order. Schedule 1 to this Order lists disinfectants approved by the Secretary of State and Schedule 2 lists disinfectants which, although no longer approved, can continue to be used as approved disinfectants until 31st August 2003.
This Order was notified in draft to the European Commission in accordance with Directive 98/34/EC (OJ No L 204 21/07/98 p37), as amended by Directive 98/48/EC (OJ L 217 05/08/98 p18).
A regulatory impact assessment has not been prepared in respect of this Order.
