This Order specifies the form of words in Welsh which may be used in police areas in Wales for the attestation of constables or special constables as an alternative to the words in Schedule 4 to the Police Act 1996.
1996 c. 16. Section 29 of the 1996 Act requires a member of a police force or special constable for a police area to be attested as a constable by making a declaration in the form set out in Schedule 4 to the Act. Schedule 4 is substituted by section 83 of the Police Reform Act 2002 (c. 30).
The term “police area” has the meaning ascribed to it in section 101 of the Police Act 1996 by virtue of Schedule 1 to the Interpretation Act 1978 (c. 30).
