The location and general design of the Bridge are shown on the plan numbered 7F3133/S002/01B marked “The Staffordshire County Council Trent and Mersey Canal Bridge Scheme 2001”, dated 2 January 2001, sealed with the Common Seal of the Staffordshire County Council and deposited at the offices of the Council, Lichfield District Council and of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions.
Commencing from a point on the west bank of the Trent and Mersey canal, 250 metres north-east of the aqueduct over the River Trent and terminating at a point 13.3 metres to the east on the east bank of the canal.
The bridge will carry the new road over the Trent and Mersey canal.
A single span of approximately 13.2 metres.
Not less than 3.05 metres above waterway (i.e. above Bishton Hall weir level of 69.91 metres A.O.D.).
The width of the canal will be reduced to 8 metres.
The bridge will be 15.2 metres wide between parapets carrying a 7.3 metre wide single carriageway with a 1.5 metre wide hard verge and a 2.5 metre wide combined footway/cycleway on the south side and a 4.0 metre wide hard verge on the north side.
