The Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (County of Dorset) (District of Purbeck) Order 2002

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (County of Dorset) (District of Purbeck) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 1st July 2002.

Interpretation

2.  In this Order—

“the 1984 Act” means the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1);

“the 1991 Act” means the Road Traffic Act 1991; and

“the parking area” means the area designated as a permitted parking area and as a special parking area by article 4 of this Order.

Application

3.  This Order applies to the district of Purbeck with the exception of the following roads and parking places:

(a) all sections of the A31 trunk road within the district;

(b) the A35 trunk road, together with its on and off slip roads, from its junction with the A31 trunk road at Bere Regis to the district boundary with West Dorset District;

(c) the A35 road, together with its on and off slip roads, from its junction with the A351 road at Lytchett Minster to its junction with Longmeadow Lane at Upton;

(d) the A3049 road from its junction with the A35 road at Upton to the district boundary with Poole Borough;

(e) the following parking places in the area of the Swanage Town Council and included within the Swanage Town Council (Off Street Parking Places) Order 1998:

(i) the Broad Road Car Park to the east of Seymour Road;

(ii) the Central Car Park on the north side of Kings Road West;

(iii) the Recreation Ground (Residents) Car Park on the east side of Horsecliffe Lane south of its junction with Victoria Avenue;

(iv) the North Beach Car Park to the north of the junction of De Moulham Road and Bonfields Avenue;

(v) the Main Beach Car Park on the south side of Victoria Avenue to the west of its junction with Northbrook Road;

(vi) the Mermond Place Car Park on the east side of Horsecliffe Lane adjoining its junction with Station Place; and

(vii) the Boat Park Car Park on the north and south sides of Peveril Point Road.

Designation of permitted parking area and special parking area

4.  The Secretary of State hereby designates the area to which this Order applies as—

(a) a permitted parking area; and

(b) a special parking area.

Modification and application of Part II of the 1991 Act

5.  Sections 66, 69 to 74, 78, 79 and 82 of, and Schedule 6 to, the 1991 Act shall apply in relation to the parking area and as so applied shall have effect subject to the modifications specified in Schedule 1 to this Order.

Modification of other provisions

6.  The 1984 Act shall be modified in relation to the parking area as specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.
