INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The International Development Act 2002 (Commencement) Order 2002

In exercise of the power conferred on the Secretary of State by section 20(2) of the International Development Act 2002(1) (“the Act”), the Secretary of State for International Development hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the International Development Act 2002 (Commencement) Order 2002.

Appointed day

2.  17th June 2002 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the Act.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

By this Order the Secretary of State for International Development brings into force the International Development Act 2002 (which received Royal Assent on 26th February 2002) on 17th June 2002.

On the same date, the Overseas Development and Co-operation Act 1980 (c. 63) is repealed, by virtue of sections 15 and 19 of, and Schedule 4 to, the International Development Act 2002. Schedule 5 to the Act contains certain specific transitional and savings provisions.
