Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and has been approved by each House of Parliament:
And whereas the substance added to Schedule 2 to the Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 1990(1) by this Order has been added to the Annex to the Vienna Convention(2) under Article 12 of that Convention:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 12(5) of the Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 1990 is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 1990 (Modification) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 12th December 2001.
2. Schedule 2 to the Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 1990, which specifies scheduled substances for the purposes of Part II of that Act, shall be amended by the insertion in Table 1 of that Schedule before the words “1—PHENYL—2—PROPANONE” of the word “NOREPHEDRINE”.

This Order adds Norephedrine to Table 1 of Schedule 2 to the Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 1990 (which specifies certain substances, useful for manufacture of controlled drugs, which are controlled under Part II of the Act).
The amendment reflects the addition of the substance to the Annex to the United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances 1988 (“the Vienna Convention”) under Article 12 of that Convention.
